The End of the Pier Martha Grimes Books

The End of the Pier Martha Grimes Books
Martha Grimes really disappointed me with this read. I think the main flaw was the removal of her wonderful twelve-year old protagonist Emma Graham in the scenes and geographical location of the novel that she introduced in Hotel Paradise. The sheriff and Maud are still there, but the town that Emma inhabited for four sequential novels is missing in its charm and sense of mystery. The crime and murder that sets the sheriff on a hunt for the criminal is graphic in its detail and so disturbing that it is hard to get past this part of the book. Having read other Grimes novels, I think she could have pulled back on the blood and gore and the way the criminal dissected his victim. At least give us Emma back!

The End of the Pier Martha Grimes Books Reviews
book came faster than it was suppose to enjoyed it
It was a very good read. Kept my attention. Main Character was 'interesting'. The service from GreenEarth books is always excellent.
Enjoye this book very much.
Martha Grimes is always an enjoyable read. It's not Richard Jury but just as entertaining.
Martha Grimes always provides interesting dialogue and issues for main characters as mysteries are solved. I missed the 'old gang' (Melrose Plant et al.) from the earlier work but the mystery of this new atmosphere is standard Grimes.
I liked the earlier Hotel Paradise, apart from the deliberately obscure ending. This novel, featuring the same locale and at least one character, was disappointing in a different way. It reads like a first draft, and although the ending is understandable, there are a lot of unanswered questions left pending, particularly about the motivations of the various characters.
not as good as the Jury mysteries.
