My Bondage and My Freedom is an autobiographical slave narrative written by Frederick Douglass and published in 1855. It is the second of three autobiographies written by Douglass, and is mainly an expansion of his first (Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass), discussing in greater detail his transition from bondage to liberty. Following this liberation, Douglass, a former slave, went on to become a prominent abolitionist, speaker, author, and publisher.

What a great man may he rest in peace
I love this guy, he is such an inspiration no mater who you are or what race. The book was in perfect condition. I'll read it whenever I get a chance.
Incredibly well written. This book finally helped me realize how rampant whipping and abuse was in the institution of slavery in the south. I highly recommend it for everyone with any interest at all in the history of the Civil War. I think it should be required reading in all high schools in the USA.
(Print was so tiny I had to purchase it for .) Sobering picture of slavery and the whole US in 1855 given to us by a brilliant and thoughtful man who lived through it. It will continue to be important work, even 160 years later.
